How much maintenance do Alumawood kits require?
Alumawood patio cover products are easy to maintain and
are virtually maintenance-free. Not only does the
manufacturer create the end product, they also paint the
Alumawood using a state-of-the-art continuous coating
process and an extremely anti-corrosive siliconized
polyester paint finish (Tuffcoat™). Generally, normal
rainfall is sufficient to keep its appearance clean. It
is also recommended that you periodically spray down the
cover with a water and soap solution to rid the surface
of dirt and/or lime build-up.
How does the cost of Alumawood compare to that of
real wood?
The cost of an Alumawood Kit is comparable to that of a
Wooden Patio Cover or carport. Although, with Alumawood,
you will never have to worry about spending money and
hours of backbreaking work to scrape, paint, and repair
the structure. And unlike real wood Alumawood is backed
by a lifetime warranty against: cracking, peeling,
fading, warping, and rotting. Therefore, not only is
Alumawood comparable in price, but in the long run it
costs much, much less (and it looks better).
What colors do the Alumawood Awning kits come in?
All Alumawood patio cover products are available in five
classic colors: Sonora Beige, Adobe, White, Mojave Tan,
and Desert Sand.
Can Alumawood patio cover kits handle heavy snow
loads and strong winds?
The typical Alumawood product is engineered to handle a
20lb. live load. This means that it will support 20lbs.
per square foot of snow or water on it. However, if your
area requires a greater live load, we are able to
increase the weight handling capability. The
typical Alumawood patio cover product is engineered to
handle a 90mph wind load, but this varies. If your area
requires something in excess of a 90 mph wind load, we
are able to increase the capability of the product.
Always check with your local permitting office or agency
before beginning any work on your house. Alumawood patio
cover products are fully engineered, meeting ICBO
specification, which typically satisfies any permitting
requirements. We are committed assisting our customers
in getting what they need to meet building code, so
please do not hesitate to call or email us if you have
